POSITION: Assistant Director (Head), Research & Technical


PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Assistant Director (Head), Research & Technical will be responsible for the implementation of Council’s policy as it relates to management of the Institute’s research and technical department in an effective and efficient manner towards attaining the vision of the Institute, to be one of the foremost professional associations in Africa and beyond.

JOB DESCRIPTION - Duties and Responsibilities: Assistant Director, Research & Technical. As the head of Research & Technical Department, you are to report directly to the Registrar/Chief Executive on the Activities of the Department. 


The responsibilities of this position include but not limited to the following:
• Carry out extensive research on issues pertaining to taxation, finance and the economy.
• Ensure that the Institute facilitates regular publication of technical materials for dissemination, both nationally and internationally;
• Oversee the smooth running of the physical library including its set up, security of books, journals and materials;
• Study and review of draft legislations, National and State budgets with particular reference to tax policies and other matters of interest to tax practice and make recommendations in collaboration with the relevant faculty;
• Monitor and respond promptly to all tax issues raised by government and non-governmental bodies;
• Review all technical contents of FIRS and SIRS releases and make recommendations to council, where necessary;
• Keep under regular review the technical needs and technical materials in order to make them available to members;
• Design the technical content of Institute’s activities;
• Attend to research and technical requests from the regional body of taxation;
• Prepare/review speeches for requisite technical contents;
• Drive and sustain the process for e-library deployment;
• Act as Conference Rapporteur;
• Any other duties as may be assigned by the Registrar/Chief Executive, Honorary Treasurer and the Institute’s Council.


The Department also serves as the Secretary to the following faculties:
• Direct Tax Faculty
• Indirect Tax Faculty
• Extractive Industries Faculty
• Tax Policy and Administration Faculty
• International Tax Faculty


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
• Must have Bsc and Msc Accounting, Taxation, or other social sciences/ BL, LLM 
• Must be a Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) with a minimum of five (5) years post-qualification experience;
• PhD in Taxation/relevant field is an added advantage;
• Possession of any related and recognised professional qualifications e.g. ACA, CNA, ACCA, CPA, LLB, ACTI, FCTI etc;
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Managerial and similar position in a reputable organization;
• Must be between 30 – 45 years of age;
• Excellent knowledge of modern Information and Telecommunications Systems;
• Must have flair for research
